How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

In situations of instability and crisis, the legal team must reinvent itself and carefully study the general picture in order to present agile legal solutions in order to reduce any impact that the business may suffer. Legal teams are immersed in a transformation process as a result of the pandemic and other unpredictable situations that the world has experienced in recent times. 

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently? 

During the last few months, we have been working on the process of creating new financial inclusion products in accordance with the latest regulations issued by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, as well as the creation of credit products focused on promoting financial inclusion and the support of micro, small and medium-sized businesses. These initiatives support the National Financial Inclusion Strategy with a view to the year 2030. 

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

I believe that artificial intelligence is one of the emerging technologies with the greatest impact today worldwide and will allow legal teams to dedicate more time to critical thinking and strategic advice to their client while artificial intelligence takes care of routine tasks. Although AI is of great value to any business, human qualities play a vital role in the legal function. 

I keep up to date with these advances by participating in different academic events, participating in guilds and through comparative analyzes of regulations from different jurisdictions.
