How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

For managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, I would adopt a multifaceted approach, focusing on risk assessment and mitigation by immediate risk identification, a crisis management team and functional contingency and continuity plans, and legal and regulatory compliance. This would mean preparing regulatory updates, having a close relationship with governmental authorities and constant communication through reports. The strategy alignment for business goals will be effective by having internal and external relevant communication, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into the overall business strategy, and exploring innovative legal solutions, such as technology-driven legal tools, to enhance efficiency.  

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?  

During the last three years, I successfully incorporated and organised the following entities, contributing directly to the following projects: o SOFIPO (small banking entity that can open accounts and investments for customers digitally), o SOFOM (credit entity that can grant any type of credits to all kind of customers), o IFPE (electronic payments entity that issue wallets for customers, for cashless and transfer purposes), o IFC (crowdfunding entity for collective investments and credits, managed by the company) and o Transmisor de Dinero (a remittances entity). We organised and incorporated the above-mentioned companies, gaining an integral corporate group that can render almost any technological or financial service for all kinds of customers. Successfully digitalised and automatised the legal area of the company with new software, including alerts, controls, processes, digital legal and corporate documents and agreements, and electronic signatures.  

How do you manage and motivate your legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth?  

Managing and motivating a legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth requires a combination of clear expectations and communication by setting clear goals, making regular check-ins, and having an open communication, supportive leadership, leading by example and providing necessary resources. Continuous development opportunities, with internal training and learning mechanisms, recognition of achievements, with incentives and rewards, such as career growth opportunities and leadership roles are also ways to motivate a legal team. An engaging work environment, with challenging assignments and autonomy in work, a good work-life balance, with flexible work arrangements, respecting working hours and promoting well-being, team activities and inclusive culture, to strengthen relationships among the team helps to foster a good working environment for colleagues. Conducting performance management reviews with constructive feedback, empowerment and innovation encouragement, with effective delegation, and supporting new ideas and approaches to legal challenges can also assist professional growth in a legal team.  

In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently?  

The main political and legal trends that currently stand out in my beloved Mexico are the concern about the lack of power counterweights and balances within the government, that can lead to a dictatorship, in which the same governmental authorities are the ones that propose, approve and judge the laws.
