How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

As the company’s general counsel, addressing the management of legal aspects during periods of instability or crises involves several key approaches such as identifying and assessing legal risks that may arise during the crisis, including changes in legislation, potential litigation, and contractual risks; maintaining clear and constant communication with management and key teams to understand business priorities and how they may be affected by the legal situation; developing a proactive legal strategy that can adapt to changing circumstances, protecting the company’s interests and minimising exposure to risks. Working together with other departments, such as finance and operations, to create contingency plans that address potential legal impacts across all areas of the business and providing timely legal advice and support to management for informed decision-making during the crisis is key.

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?  

Right now, we are intensively working on the modification of our Costa Palmas Condo Regime, which includes the master xondominium as well as the sub condominiums. This modification is aimed at aligning with the most recent master plan design, that, among others will provide a boost from a commercial standpoint.

In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently?

Nearshoring.  Nearshoring in Mexico is a growing business trend due to its proximity to the United States, which reduces transportation costs and improves supply chain efficiency. Mexico offers cost-effective labor, favorable trade terms under agreements like USMCA, and a skilled workforce, particularly in manufacturing and IT sectors. These factors collectively make Mexico an attractive option for companies seeking to optimise operations and reduce costs.
