How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

I work at the Treasury and Liabilities Legal Affairs Department, which is responsible for treasury and liabilities matters within CAF legal department. Our strategy is to provide innovative but sound solutions, to allow our internal clients to fulfil the organisation’s goals and ensure the organisation’s stability and full compliance with internal regulations. 

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?  

CAF mobilises resources from international markets to Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting investments and business opportunities. Recently, I have dealt with several agreements with European entities who wish to mobilise resources to the region and find in our organisation a stable institution to trust their resources.  The most relevant project in 2023 was the Regional Electric Mobility and Low Carbon Transportation Program (E-Motion), for a total of 231 million, which captures resources from the Green Climate Fund to finances the use of electric vehicles in three Latin American cities, promoting a cleaner, sustainable, and affordable transportation system. 

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?  

Within CAF there are several initiatives that foster an inclusive and equitable work environment, since there is a specific department who impulses that agenda throughout the organisation, the Inclusion, Diversity and Gender Department. There is specific programme to promote gender equity and the advancement of women leaders, called “M+ COMMUNITY”, on which women of the legal team have an active and substantial participation. Particularly within the legal team, most of the leaders are women.
