About

ArcelorMittal is the world’s leading steel and mining company, with a presence in more than 60 countries and an industrial footprint in 19 countries. In 2015, ArcelorMittal had revenues of over $63bn and crude steel productions of 92.5 million tonnes. Mexico has developed into a substantial market for the company, and the legal team has had to develop to match the growth. Jose Bernardo Rodriguez, is chief general counsel and compliance office for Mexico, using more than 12 years of experience in corporate law to lead the legal team in the country. Under Rodriquez’s guidance, the legal team has continued to excel in a number of specialised areas, supporting ArcelorMittal’s production capacity of more than 6.5 million tonnes per year and more than 6,000 employees. The team accomplish this while adhering to the company’s core philosophy to produce sustainable, safe steel and maintain its name as a leading supplier of quality steel. Despite the external challenges in sustainable development and challenging market conditions faced in Mexico in recent years, ArcelorMittal has continued to find ways to use energy efficiently and ensure all employees, including the legal department, have the skillset to innovate through the next generation.
