What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We accomplished one of the biggest challenges ever, by obtaining the Fintech authorisation for our subsidiary company. Having the opportunity to work towards a goal such as turning the company into a financial institution is a significant milestone that reflects our commitment to regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
During the first operational years, we have been focusing on preparing comprehensive and transparent interaction with our clients, implementing robust risk management within the financial legal frameworks, and attending to our clients’ needs. Securing this authorisation allows us to offer innovative financial services, expand our customer base, and contribute to the digital financial landscape’s evolution.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?  

I initiated a “weekly office hour” open to everyone in the company, creating an open space for questions, feedback, and recommendations, enhancing the communication and synergy between our legal area and all the other teams of Clip. Sometimes, the interaction with the legal department may feel too formal or to be done with caution, so this type of platform creates an open dialogue and safe environment where all co-workers can be heard and could answer any type of legal question that may be affecting or limiting their innovative ideas or proposals. This initiative has led to more harmonious and productive teamwork throughout the company, enforcing our mission: We Make Ideas Happen.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

I deeply care about financial inclusion and transparency in financial terms. Every day we hear more about friends, family members or minority sectors in our community that may have not taken the best financial decision that is hindering their economic stability and day to day life, because they could not get access to essential financial services or because the terms were not clear. I believe that by promoting these principles, we can create a more inclusive and just financial system that benefits all, whilst forcing the companies to create better products and services, instead of hiding behind little letters.
