What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In October 2023, Mexico implemented adjustments to its lubricant import regulations, which have significant implications for businesses dealing with petroleum products, including lubricant base oils, finished lubricants, and greases. As a result, all imports were halted by the government from one day to the next, jeopardising the continuity of operations for various industries such as automotive, mining, electrical, and others.
We worked closely with various authorities to obtain the necessary permits within two days, enabling us to continue manufacturing activities in Mexico and provide different products to various customers, thus avoiding disruption to their businesses.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

We transformed our way of working in Mexico by digitising the legal function. We began using various digital tools, such as DocuSign®, to standardise contracts and significantly reduce paper usage.

Helping the environment is everyone’s responsibility. We are always striving to contribute to environmental care. Reducing printing, digitising processes, and even supporting significant improvements in our production process or supply chain are tasks that we, as a legal team, seek to facilitate.
