What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We were part of a complex liability case in the US in which, from our perspective, our company was wrongly accused of having to indemnify the injured person. After extensive litigation and a few mediation sessions we were finally able to settle the case with the plaintiff.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?  

Deacero is all in trying to implement as much technology as possible to offer the best purchase experience to our end customers. The legal department is no exception, so we began to take a closer look at our standard templates in order to simplify their content. The next step was to make those formats available to our internal customers to reduce the lead time. We are still able to mitigate the risk because the final review still goes through the legal department, but we were able to reduce 100% the time it usually took to take care of some of these transactions at almost no cost.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

Water sustainability has been on my mind for a couple of years now. The last couple of years this subject has been a critical matter in my city and in some parts of Mexico. I understand the demand will not cease so depending strictly on mother nature may not be enough.  Government and society need to start adopting better practices to guarantee its supply for the generations to come. I have tried hard to teach my children the importance of taking care of the water.
