What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Earlier this year FINSA announced the creation of a new investment fund for an amount of up to USD $605 m. A natural effect of this event is the eagerness to look for investment opportunities in the market, which have included the acquisition of land for the development of a new FINSA’s industrial park in Apodaca, Nuevo León, México, as well as built to suit projects and multitenant buildings.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

One of the most important things I look for in my team is the constant learning about new legal affairs that are not precisely related to their day-to-day work. As of this year, I have implemented an internal continuous legal education programme by means of which, once a month, a member of the legal department prepares a lecture for the other members regarding a specific subject of their area. This programme intends to diversify the learning and practice among the members of the legal teams in a relaxed environment that enables interesting discussions and exchange of ideas. The programme became an instant success and colleagues from other areas of the company have been attending and participating as well. The best part of all is that this training does not represent any expense to the company.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

An issue that has become more relevant throughout the years is mobility and accessibility inclusion. Personally, I realised about this issue while spending time with my late grandfather who had a walking disability, and we had hard times in looking for restaurants or places that had accessibility for his wheelchair.  There is still a lot of room for improvement in the current public infrastructure of the city I live in and social awareness regarding such needs. However, with the new and ongoing public and private initiatives and programmes ,hopefully, progress will be faster.
