Deepalakshmi Vadivelan (Deepa) is an astute legal professional with over 20 years of deep experience in managing legal affairs as a business enabler. She has held leadership roles in multinational companies, focusing on commercial contracts (India & International), M&A, IPR, litigation management, dispute resolution, general advisory, compliant business development, and data privacy compliance. She started in private practice and transitioned into corporate leadership. She is proactive, positive, and skilled in negotiation and leadership, able to work well under pressure.

Currently, she is the General Counsel and Global Data Protection Officer at Quess Corp Ltd., where she leads a team of over 20+ legal professionals. Effective communicator with proven track record of solving complex legal and business problems, ability to develop, ensuring every decision is aligned with organisation’s goals. She devise strategies to resolve legal issues and provide timely legal services, implement organisational policies, and support stakeholders & business heads. She is passionate about creating a culture of privacy awareness in organisations – implemented robust data protection practices, conducted comprehensive privacy risk assessments and ensured compliance with all relevant legislation across countries and business lines.

From private practice to working with a leading services company, she has excelled in steering a culture of professional excellence, agility, and deliver effective leadership on matters of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk affecting the organisation. She is confident that her experience in spearheading and integrating teams with external stakeholders, navigating commercial and legal matters would greatly benefit the organisations to unlock the value potential.

Besides she is also one of the Trustee and Advisory Board member of ‘Law Mantra Trust’. Active speaker on various knowledge sharing forums and authored articles on Data Protection, IOT, Cyber laws in India and Women leadership.
