Semex (Sharp Electrónica Mexico)

About

Sharp Electrónica Mexico, known as Semex, is the partially-autonomous Mexican entity of Japanese tech giant Sharp. Semex is the product of a complex joint venture between a group of Mexican investors, the Mexican government and Sharp, which was originally agreed in 1997. Semex manufactures all of Sharp’s television-related products for the North and Latin American markets and is the sole distributor of all Sharp’s products in Mexico, giving it an important position within the Mexican tech market and Sharp’s operations globally. Alberto Fuentes Jaubert, chief administrative officer and general counsel, bears ultimate responsibility for legal matters at Semex. He has a wide range of business responsibilities at Semex in addition to legal matters, and also operates a legal editorial journal as an extra-curricular activity. Jaubert’s versatility and wide range of experience is an example of the standard of expertise available to the Semex legal team, who are required to deal with the varied challenges that face a high profile tech company operating across a number of jurisdictions. Safeguarding intellectual property rights, dealing with counterfeit goods, ensuring a transparent and effective supply chain have all been overseen by the high quality legal team.
