What innovations have you made to the way your legal team works in the past year?

2024 was an impressive year for my legal team since we launched some important projects that have many impacts on the overall development of the company. One important and big project is aimed at building an effective framework for all operations and business activities of the company and I was appointed to be the general leader of the project. The project will last two years with two separate stages and the core framework is hoped to be completed within this year. Other important project is to apply technology to renovate all procedure of internal work between all departments of the company and make use of the technology to connect all systems of the company for looking up information, guidelines, instructions on the internal regulations of the company. Besides, all employees of the company can deploy their daily work and coordinate with other departments in one system with transparent working procedure. We hope the Project Team will help to unite all working systems of the company into one system and the result of the project will help more than 23.000 employees to use the technology system of the company more conveniently and efficiently.

Based on your experience, what is the key to collaborating successfully with business partners?

In my opinion, based on my experience, the keys to collaborating successfully with business partners are having a deep understanding on business activities and business partners of the company, both in legal view and business view. Researching and predicting legal trends for the company’s business operations to help the business partners building better business plan; to have a good business mindset when advising business partners of the company is key. This means the advice should cover not only legal matters, but also operation matter, finance impact, potential risks and feasible solutions to overcome obstacle when deploying the work. Lastly, always considering business partners as important clients when giving legal advice.

How do you motivate and manage the other members of your legal team well?

I have performed all below activities in parallel to help the members of my team to have more motivation when working with me, in my team. Firstly, I have clear and prompt principles and rules for my team to follow during their work. I also require periodic reports and organise periodic assessment activities to evaluate their performance, then give them more instruction to improve their working performance. Periodically, I hold one-to-one meetings with each member of my team to understand more about their wishes, their difficulties and give them work improvement orientation. Accordingly, I help them to build career development roadmap and income, and to clearly define the expected results to be achieved in each stage, then go along with them to achieve the set goals.

Secondly, I focus on the training activities for my team. In detail, I train my team through regular training activities on a monthly basis, with different topics on different legal fields. Besides that, I also appoint them to join outside training activities held by the government or outside organisations in their area of expertise to improve their legal knowledge in the field and improve their expertise at work. And of course, I keep instructing them on daily work after checking their work result. All those activities help them to improve their professional knowledge and necessary skills for their personal development and their working performance. Thirdly, I always try to build a good and supportive working environment for my team, with the spirit of goodwill to support each other during their work.
