As head of legal for Deutsche Bank’s Middle East and Africa region, Mark provides innovative, expert and strategic advice, proactively manages complex legal and reputational risks and implements effective governance solutions across all of the group’s activities in the MEA region (located in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, South Africa, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt and Nigeria), and comprising the bank’s investment, corporate and private bank business divisions, as well as its regional management and infrastructure functions.
With over 17 years’ experience gained in private practice and in-house roles, he is regularly recognised as one of the region’s most influential in-house counsel. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mark worked in private practice for Clifford Chance’s M&A and private equity teams in both London and Hong Kong.
In terms of achievements, Mark has had the privilege during his time at Deutsche Bank of working on some incredibly rewarding transactions and matters across the scope of his responsibilities, from some of the world’s largest debt/equity capital market transactions and M&A advisory mandates, new branch openings/product offerings, relocation projects and innovative corporate bank payment solutions, to secured lending transactions for UHNWI’s and complex cross-border regulatory projects. Mark is also immensely proud to be seen as a trusted adviser and key business partner to colleagues across the entirety of Deutsche Bank’s regional business.
