General counsel and vice president corporate development | Campana Group

What are the most significant cases and/or transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?

As General Counsel and VP of Corporate Development at Campana, a Singapore-based digital infrastructure company, I oversee both the legal and corporate growth initiatives of the company. Head-quartered in Singapore, Campana operates an extensive 5,000+ km terrestrial and subsea cable network, connecting Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Campana also holds telecommunications licenses in Thailand, Singapore, and Myanmar, positioning us at the forefront of regional connectivity.

One of the most impactful transactions this year has been the execution of agreements to extend Campana’s UMO subsea cable into Bangladesh. This expansion is critical for the country, and will significantly boost its internet capacity, introducing much-needed service diversity and redundancy. As internet demand continues to surge, this project is expected to lower service costs, benefiting consumers and improving the overall digital ecosystem.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about, and why?

I am passionate about the development of digital infrastructure, recognising its transformative role in bridging the digital divide and enhancing connectivity, and thereby creating economic growth and improving livelihoods and access to essential services like education and healthcare, especially in underserved regions. My experience spans across key sectors of digital infrastructure, including tower infrastructure with remote energy services, fibre-optic and sub-sea fiber networks, as well as data centres—each a critical component in enhancing connectivity.

As a digital infrastructure provider, Campana is ideally positioned to meet the increasing connectivity demands of data centers, being driven by the exponential demands of AI computing.
