What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?

We acquired or developed more than 3GW of renewable energy (Solar, Wind & BESS). The jurisdictions involved include Malaysia, India and Australia . Also included is the completion of the largest Solar plant in Rajasthan. Additionally, we achieved FID for a green hydrogen (Ammonia) plant in India

Installed in excess of 600 EV Charge Points and deployed over 3000 EV vehicle fleets (in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and India).

In addition to the above, we have been involved in extensive syndication with governments and regulators on the energy transformation journey.

Based on your experience, what is the key to collaborating successfully with business partners?

For us at Gentari, the key to successful collaboration with business partners is to truly understand our partners’ energy transformation objectives and tailor an integrated solution that best meets their needs in the most effective and efficient manner. We aim to foster long term win-win relationships and be the most valued clean energy solutions provider to our partners. It is important that we display consistency and professionalism and conduct ourselves with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Two-way open and honest communication channels are also important to iron out any issues that inevitably arise. The energy transformation business is a long term and important endeavor – fostering a positive and collaborative relationship with business partners and stakeholders is absolutely key to its success.

How do you motivate and manage the other members of your legal team well?

I believe that the success of any team stems from keeping all members actively engaged, committed and motivated. What I try and do is to firstly understand each member’s career aims and aspirations, discuss how and what it will take to achieve the same and try to put in place a mutually agreed road map and deliverables that will help them towards this path. Regular check-ins on progress are conducted and where necessary, capability enhancement programs (training, coaching and the like) are suggested.

Aligning the work the team does with the wider business goals and objectives allow each individual to see how their contribution affects the company’s goals and helps to enhance their sense of worth and keeps them invested in thecompany’s success.

As a leader, it is important to be objective, consistent and authentic. I engage in regular 2-way active engagement and try not to shy away from difficult conversations. It is also important to recognise and welcome that we all have different strengths, styles and perspectives and empowering the team allows them to develop and grow while expressing themselves.

Above all, actively listen, be empathetic, try to see things from the other persons perspective and treat my team members as I would like to be treated myself.
