One of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the Gulf, AstraZeneca fulfils a critical role in developing, testing and bringing to market effective drugs and remedies, and often engages in cooperative efforts with other interested parties in order to achieve this. As a recent example, in May 2016 the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE Ministry of Heath to coordinate their efforts at supporting patients with diabetes. The company also, in December 2015, embarked upon a cross-border ovarian cancer awareness drive throughout their operations in the gulf. These efforts, and the day-to-day support of the company’s range of products are conducted ably by its legal team, led by Amin Ben Lakhal. Given that the company engages tends to engage in cooperative campaigns across a number of jurisdictions in the gulf, Lakhal and his legal team are required to demonstrate the versatility to be able to build and maintain relationships across borders.
