Qatar Petroleum
Qatar’s state owned oil and gas champion operates all exploration, production, transport, and storage activities in the Gulf state, with subsidiaries manufacturing vinyl, fertilisers and other petrochemical-derived products. Qatar petroleum is also a key part of the Dolphin Gas Project, the first ever cross-border gas transmission project in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) connecting the gas supplies of Oman, the UAE, and Qatar. Helping to manage these diverse operations at such a critical time for the petroleum industry is a standout legal team that is highly respected both throughout the Gulf and the global extractives sector. Leading this team is general counsel and board secretary Mohammed Al-Mannai, a hugely influential figure in the legal community who also serves as board secretary to Industries Qatar and Gulf International Services. Al-Mannai commands a strong team that was widely praised by nominators, with figures such as associate general counsel Kathleen Bradley, senior counsel Robert Pryor Condon and Dave Samaroo, and vice president state council and legal counsel Dr. Mohammad Bedier all cited. Last year Qatar Petroleum launched its first ever formal legal panel, reducing its number of legal providers from 60 to five, with Herbert Smith Freehills Simmons & Simmons and White & Case among the firms to be awarded a place.
