Legal team size: My team (direct and indirect reports) includes approximately 60 attorneys based in Miami, Mexico City, Atlanta and Tijuana

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crisis, my priority is to ensure that my team is fully aligned with the organisation’s broader goals while providing agile, practical, and strategic legal guidance. Establishing clear and efficient communication channels is critical to fostering seamless collaboration between legal and business teams. I emphasize empathy in these interactions to understand the challenges faced by the business while maintaining the highest professional standards. This approach ensures that our legal strategy not only mitigates risks but also strengthens the organisation’s resilience, drives growth, and supports its long-term objectives.

In your opinion, what are the main trends affecting your work now?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is undoubtedly one of the most transformative trends reshaping the legal profession. By enhancing efficiency, expediting research, and automating routine tasks, AI enables attorneys to focus on delivering more strategic and valuable advice to their clients. This technological evolution is redefining how we approach our work and interact with clients, creating opportunities to improve outcomes and streamline processes.

Additionally, the rapidly changing regulatory environment and the establishment of new regulators and institutions in some jurisdictions present both challenges and opportunities. These shifts require lawyers to adapt quickly, comprehensively understand regulatory developments, and effectively communicate their implications to business partners. By ensuring swift adaptation and identifying potential opportunities within these changes, legal teams play a critical role in maintaining compliance and driving business resilience in a dynamic landscape.

What strategic priorities are guiding your legal team into 2025?

Sstrategic priorities heading into 2025 include leveraging technology integration to enhance efficiency and elevate the quality of our legal services. By adopting innovative tools, we aim to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and provide faster, more effective support to our stakeholders. Additionally, we remain vigilant in monitoring advancements and technological trends within the industries our organisation operates in. This focus ensures that we stay ahead of or adapt effectively to shifting consumer preferences and evolving habits, aligning our legal strategies with the organization’s broader goals and dynamic market conditions.
