Saudi Airlines Catering
The product of efforts to privatise the business units of Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Saudia Airlines Catering has now carved out an impressive niche in its own right in the catering market. Originally part of a $347m initial public offering for a 30% stake in the company, providing a valuation of over a billion dollars, the company is now listed on Saudi Tadawul stock exchange. It has gone from strength-to-strength on the back of its exceptional catering services, which it provides both to its parent company and other airlines operating out of Saudi Arabian airports. The legal team at Saudia Airlines Catering has been instrumental in the realisation of a number of projects that have allowed the company to thrive since its entrance to the public business environment. In May 2016, it completed the opening of a new high-tech production unit at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina, which will allow it to supply the large number of airlines that operate internationally and domestically from there. The company has also diversified its business operations by establishing a laundry service to go along with its catering product, and has recently constructed the largest industrial laundry facility in Saudi Arabia, located at King Abdullah Economic City. The legal team that has been so central to the success of Saudia Airlines Catering’s endeavours is headed up by Sultan Al Booq, general counsel and corporate secretary. Bearing ultimate responsibility for all legal matters at Saudia Airlines Catering, Al Booq possesses a wealth of experience borne from a career spent both in-house and in private legal work, allowing him to provide the expert stewardship needed to navigate the many risks the company contends with.
