During the past year, what are you/your teams’ proudest accomplishments?

2024 was an exceptional year for Citi’s legal teams in Central America and the Caribbean. Despite geopolitical and economic uncertainties, our lawyers successfully navigated complex challenges and delivered innovative solutions. Key achievements included leading financial transactions across multiple jurisdictions, driving digital transformation, and modernising payment solutions to meet the needs of our markets. Lawyers from Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and the Dominican Republic were recognised by GC Powerlist as leading practitioners. These accomplishments underscore our dedication to excellence and our ability to adapt to the region’s unique needs.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2025?

In 2025, we will continue to focus on client-centric legal solutions, ensuring Citi remains a trusted partner in Central America and the Caribbean. Our priorities include supporting complex cross-border transactions, navigating regulatory changes, and managing litigation risks. We aim to enhance collaboration across Citi’s global legal network, delivering consistent and best-in-class legal services throughout the CCA sub-cluster. Talent development remains critical as we prepare our teams to tackle challenges with agility and maintain Citi’s leadership in financial innovation and governance across the CCA sub-cluster.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

Our Legal team is passionate about creating meaningful impacts in the communities of Central America and the Caribbean. In 2024, we partnered with NGOs, universities, and law firms to advance education and entrepreneurial growth. Notable initiatives included the “Crece tu Empresa” program, empowering over 50 young entrepreneurs across five Central American countries, and mentoring law students in the Caribbean to enhance their employment prospects. These efforts reflect our commitment to fostering social progress and empowering future leaders in the region.
