A highly accomplished legal practitioner with over thirty years of extensive experience in diverse areas of legal practice. Alikem commenced her career in private legal practice with a reputable Ghanaian Law Firm, Fugar & Company, where she honed in her skills in corporate and commercial law practice as well as civil litigation. She subsequently worked with the African Development Bank (AfDB), a multilateral development agency at its headquarters in both Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunis, Tunisia.
She also spent six years of her career in the Ghanaian mining industry as the Head of Legal and Compliance of the Ghanaian subsidiaries of Golden Star Resources Limited, a Canadian mining company, listed on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) and based in Denver, Colorado, USA. Some of the key achievements during this period was leading in the listing of Golden Star Resources on the Ghana Stock Exchange as well as working closely with the Ghana Chamber of Mines and other stakeholders in the review of introduction of new Mining Legislation.
She is currently the Head of Legal of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, where she leads the legal team in effectively driving the Bank’s business. Alikem is passionate about promoting the rights of women, children and indigent persons in society to whom she has provided pro bono legal services during the course of her career.
