About

Delia Roopnarain  is a South African qualified corporate, commercial, and intellectual property attorney (Solicitor), as well as a Notary Public of the High Court of South Africa. With over 15 years of experience, Delia has worked in leading legal and financial institutions, including a top-tier international corporate and commercial law firm, DLA Piper (one of the largest law firms globally), Africa’s largest intellectual property law firm, Adams & Adams, and Investec, one of South Africa’s leading international banks. 

Currently, Delia serves as Senior Counsel: Group Legal for RSA, UK, and Mozambique at Premier FMCG Proprietary Limited, where she plays a key role in shaping the company’s legal strategy across multiple regions. 

Throughout her career, Delia has assisted Premier FMCG with the successful listing of the Premier Group on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. She led the legal team for Lil-Lets UK (a Premier Group company) in acquiring a stake in the SOS Science of Skin brand in the UK. She also provided strategic advice to an international engineering and consulting firm on its demerger from its parent group, as well as the establishment of a new independent African business in South Africa. In addition, Delia has advised a South African biotechnology company regarding the disposal of its laboratory business and shareholding in a Zambian entity, as well as assisted a South African bank with the transfer of one of its divisions to a separate entity. 

Further, Delia has been instrumental in helping South African shareholders with the sale of the ‘Oh So Heavenly’ brand portfolio and shares to an international purchaser and has provided legal expertise to an American hardware, software, and technology company in its acquisition of a software solution from a South African company. 

With a wealth of experience across corporate law, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and international business, Delia is well-equipped to provide strategic legal counsel and navigate complex multi-jurisdictional legal challenges.
