What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?

The projects I have worked on over the past 12 months, and that I am truly proud of, are undoubtedly related to the regulatory challenges concerning Compliance and Data Protection & Privacy. I am fortunate to have an exceptional team, willing to take on new challenges, with a broad vision and dedication. Without them, taking on and successfully completing these projects would not have been possible.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

Definitely with patience, perseverance, and a positive attitude. I believe that establishing resilience within the organisation largely depends on human capital and how all of us who lead teams convey calm and reassurance during times of crisis, while still emphasising the need to increase tenacity in the reviews and decisions we make.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

Despite my background and experience are being related to being a lawyer, taking on the role of Compliance Officer and DPO has meant embracing challenges and acquiring knowledge related to new technologies, information engineering, artificial intelligence, and so on. Additionally, working hand in hand on strategic decisions has greatly broadened my field of experience in my career.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Without a doubt, I am fortunate to be surrounded by a great team that supports me with tenacity in the new challenges we face on a daily basis. Additionally, expanding my knowledge towards new technologies and learning to understand the language used by colleagues working in Big Data and Engineering fields has been an important, exponential attribute to my profile.

Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?

I definitely believe that in my professional development field, all subjects related to data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, new technologies, artificial intelligence, and regulations related to economic criminal law in the context of cybercrime are extremely important .
