What are the projects you’re most proud to have worked on in the last 12 months?

The most valuable resource of a company is people, and that is why during the previous year I prioritized working for and with the team, because any other project depends strictly on the commitment and loyalty of the team; That is why the priority was to transmit the versatility to be able to adapt to changes, leaving the comfort zone to see the needs of the company from another perspective. The involvement in the learning and methodology of data protection was fundamental, this because a year ago we had already implemented software that allows us to control the data processing of rights holders; however, the understanding of the regulations associated with the methodology used further enriched these concepts.

How do you approach managing legal issues during periods of instability or crisis to ensure organizational resilience?

A crisis is an opportunity to be better, to seek efficiencies in processes that we probably took for granted or that we had not questioned improving; that is why being able to adapt easily to changes allows you to focus on achieving the fulfillment of objectives by remembering the purpose of the organization. Continuous learning allows us to eliminate the fear of making mistakes, for which it is important to be able to generate dynamic work teams, so that everyone can contribute with innovative ideas. The important thing is to look for tangible and real solutions, which can be adapted to the circumstances. Open communication helps to ensure that the message conveyed is correct, so adequate feedback is important in times of crisis to clear up doubts. It is also important for the leader to maintain a positive attitude and problem-solving skills, identifying the problem and ways to solve them.

What do you think sets you apart from other in-house lawyers?

Forming multidisciplinary teams and starting from the premise of being a guide and support has allowed me to have a work team that has the security and empowerment to solve complex situations. There is no work paralysis, because I have been able to develop responsibility and security in decision-making in them. An in-house lawyer must not only know about the law, but they must also be involved in the business; in such a way that this knowledge allows them to advise from the perspective of analyzing all the impacts that a legal decision or recommendation may impact on the rest of the areas of the organization.

What do you think are the most important attributes that a modern in-house lawyer should possess?

Fundamentally, specialized legal knowledge, negotiation skills, seeking consensual solutions. Other attributes are analytical thinking, through the analysis of regulations, identifying potential risks and opportunities. Also, effective verbal communication, that is, one that can clearly transmit their thoughts and directives. Being proactive always helps the organization make assertive decisions.

Annual planning allows you to have clear objectives. This planning must be carried out in conjunction with the work team, which helps minimize errors and reduces the stress of meeting objectives. The ability to work in a team will allow you to resolve complex situations, share your knowledge and experiences, and establish legal strategies. Knowledge of new technologies that allow optimizing times in the delivery of requirements. Constant updating, continuous training, attendance at forums and refresher courses are important to maintain competitiveness.
