One of the world’s largest and most successful food and beverages company, US conglomerate Kraft Heinz has a continually expanding presence in Latin America. Despite being based in Costa Rica, nominators have been highly impressed by the work of the in-house legal team covering Kraft Heinz’s operations in the Southern Cone countries. As one nominator explained, ‘Gloriana Picado is the senior lawyer in charge of Latin America operations. The team is based in Costa Rica and covers the whole South Cone region, excluding Brazil. Latin America is a difficult and unpredictable jurisdiction and the company has been able to organise an effective team to cover the region’. During the last few years, the team has been able to open its local subsidiary in Argentina, which has allowed it to manufacture locally and support the region.
