Global US life insurer MetLife began its operations in Argentina in the mid-1990s. Heading the legal functions of the company in both Argentina and Uruguay is assistant vice president and legal and compliance director Federico Bravo, having served the company since 2016. One private practice nominator was full of praise for the team’s leadership, stating the following: ‘The leader of this team is an expert in his industry, in addition to being a generalist and a great complement to our own team’. Supporting Bravo in the legal team is assistant counsel manager Nicolás Vega Olmos, who heads legal corporate matters for Argentina and Uruguay and legal counsel Nicolás Ramos Mejía and Francisco Güidale who both joined in February 2018. The team was commended by nominators for contributing to the company’s defence in a large arbitration tribunal before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in 2018.
