SwissMarine
Led by general counsel Elizabeth Leonhardt, the SwissMarine legal team has gone from strength to strength representing the shipping transportation business, which has a turnover of over $1.34bn and in 2015 shipped over 122.5 million tons of cargo worldwide. The team has continuously adapted to the rapidly expanding size and the new regulations the diverse product offerings has brought. The team has remained internationally agile in accordance with its global scope; today the company operates out of five worldwide offices (Geneva, Bermuda, Singapore, Copenhagen and Tokyo) with professional staff of over 50 employees. In recent years the legal department has been tasked with a number of high-profile negotiations. SwissMarine has entered into a time charter contract with Diana Shipping, a global shipping company, for one of its Ice Class Panamax dry bulk vessels for an 11 to 14 month period. The legal team has been integral to the implementation of this contract, which has been estimated to generate gross revenue of around $2.06m during the first 11 months. The team has large ventures and projects in the upcoming future as SwissMarine also expects to take delivery of one new-building Newcastlemax dry bulk vessel later in the year, as well as one new-building Newcastlemax dry bulk vessel and one new-building Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel during the fourth quarter of 2016.
