Alacer Gold is a leading low-cost gold producer with an 80% interest in the world-class Çöpler gold mine in Turkey. Ahmet İlker Doğan is vice president, general counsel, and has led Alacer’s legal department through a number of successful deals. The team recently completed a facility agreement amounting to US$350m obtained from four foreign banks, namely, ING, BNP Paribas, Uni Credit and Société Générale. The team reviewed all related matters regarding the facility, ensuring all security documentation had been perfectly implemented. The loan was used for the financing of the expansion of the gold production facility in İlic, Erzincan. In addition, the team successfully completed the review and execution of contracts regarding the expansion project. When summing up the team culture, Doğan says: ‘As a company culture and due to our team approach, besides doing the basic legal assignments, the legal team is [involved with] and assisting almost every department’.
