Founded by Ömer Faruk Çelik a major investor in Turkish land and properties, EYG was founded in 2014 and has already taken the Turkish real estate sector by storm. Having incorporated the brands, Evvel Istanbul, Adım Istanbul, Evdeki Fırsat, Kentsel Yönetim, Üç Öğün and Dekor’S, EYG Group has carved a large hole for itself within the real estate scene in Turkey. Ümit Başer, group vice president legal leads the stellar in-house legal department made up of two other highly skilled legal professionals, Özlem Çaltekin and Nilgün İleri Özdemir, and two support staff members adept at legal guidance and oversight of international, company, contract, competition, insurance, compensation and labour laws as well as M&As and alternative dispute resolution. EYG Group has been responsible for some major real estate projects in Istanbul and its surrounding areas with new residential complexes and an online real estate searching platform posing different challenges for the legal team which it meets with skill and ease. The team has also worked to secure the place of the company’s recently formed legal function, and protect against any and all liabilities and risks the company faces. This year the team received an interlocutory injunction from the commercial court regarding a large dispute, in a victory that is highly important for the company and its projects.
