QNB Finansbank
QNB Finansbank is a Turkish bank that was first founded in 1987 in Istanbul by leading Turkish banker Hüsnü Özyeğin. In 2015, the National Bank of Greece (who purchased the bank’s domestic operation) announced it would sell the bank to Qatari QNB Group – the largest bank in the Middle East and Africa – in a deal worth €2.7bn in a transaction that was completed the following year. Executive vice president and head of the legal department, Emel Yılmaz Özbay, has been at QNB Finansbank for over 14 years, and was appointed to her current position in 2016. Following the takeover by QNB, the bank has a total of 542 branches and 12,011 employees. Özbay’s team is responsible for providing legal assistance to all the branches and departments on investment and real estate projects, as well as in-house and outsourced litigation issues of the bank; drafting customer loan agreements, mortgage agreements, all security agreements and letters of credits. The team is recognised in this edition of the GC Powerlist for routinely excelling at handling all matters under its remit.
