SunExpress was founded in October 1989 in Antalya, the largest Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast, as a joint venture between two leading industry airlines, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. Today the company has more than 3,800 employees in Turkey and Germany, and is the largest employer in Antalya. Amongst its personnel, the company’s in-house legal team has played an influential role in the airline’s expansion over the years. A key feature of the team’s contribution to SunExpress in this regard is overseeing a range of deals that increase the airlines flight offerings to new locations as well as the purchase of new aircrafts.
