Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is a multinational enterprise information technology company. Ana Valdivieso is the legal director for HPE Spain and Portugal, vice president and associate general counsel for Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Israel) and Latin America, as well as secretary to the board of directors of HPE Spanish affiliates. The HPE Spain and Portugal legal team is composed by the legal director, two legal counsels (Marisa Nieto and Juan Luis Moreno) and executive assistant Natalia Valdeande. In 2017, Nieto was recognised by the global sales team for the legal support she provided in business deals and was invited to a global meeting, making it the first time that an in-house lawyer from HPE’s worldwide legal team was award with this recognition. The HPE legal hub in Spain, in addition to the above mentioned members, consists of one legal counsel covering Italy, one counsel covering France, two managers covering global litigation, and one global legal operations manager. They are all based in Madrid and provide services to multiple jurisdictions. During the last two years, the legal team implemented several important initiatives, including the use of Apttus, an online software tool that allows the team to manage sales contracts flow and is linked to SalesForce.com, their deals database. In the 2018 fiscal year, the legal team also launched the”Roster of Experts” programme to create internal global networks of legal knowledge and collaboration between experts in specific legal fields. Since 2015, the HPE Spain and Portugal legal team has been involved in several major corporate and commercial transactions. One of them is the splitting of the Hewlett-Packard Company into two Fortune 50 companies, HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where the legal team successfully handled legal matters for the Spanish and Portuguese subsidiaries within time frame and under budget. HPE’s motto is”winning the right way”, and the company is recognised as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2019 by the Ethisphere Institute. In line with HPE’s high ethical standards, the Spain and Portugal legal team frequently promotes and participates in HPE’s corporate social responsibility and pro bono events.
