French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has over 1,500 stores in 49 countries and is one of the largest sporting goods retailer in the world. As of July 2017, Alix Aspeslagh serves as the real estate legal counsel and development manager for Decathlon in Belgium, a role she was promoted to after serving as the organisation’s real estate legal counsel for nearly three years. Recognised by her peers for her dedication to the company, one nominator says: ‘I have known Aspeslagh since we were both exchange students at a US law school in Silicon Valley. Ever since, she has been at the forefront of what she has been doing. Currently, at Decathlon, she appears to have a key role in its expansion within Benelux, combining both legal expertise with business responsibility’. Prior to this role, Aspeslagh served as an associate at Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick, with a focus on the corporate and finance practice group within the banking and finance team. She previously worked at DLA Piper as a junior associate within the corporate department.
