Els Ponnet joined BNP Paribas Fortis in March 2000 as head of legal global markets, and over the years has assumed the position of head legal private equity, corporate finance and corporate affairs in 2010. In September 2011 she assumed the position of head legal retail and private banking. In May 2015 she assumed her current position as head of legal.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas Fortis, Ponnet was senior legal counsel at GDF Suez and a senior associate at Linklaters.
She also trained as a junior lawyer at KBC – Belfox for two years.
