Dr Beatrice Vos currently serves as executive director, head of legal international for Elanco Animal Health, a company spun off from Lilly that went public on the New York Stock Exchange in September 2018. Dr Vos has vast international expertise, having accumulated legal experience in various areas of law, with nine years in private practice and 10 years in-house located in the US, her native Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Dr Vos joined Lilly in September 2009, initially with the general legal in-house department covering Europe, working on a broad range of topics from commercial, regulatory, antitrust, contracts, M&A and ethical compliance to dispute resolution. In 2012, Dr Vos took the role of general counsel, EMEA and then in 2013 as general counsel, international for Eli Lilly’s animal health business, Elanco. Following Elanco’s pivotal US$5.4bn acquisition of the animal health section of Novartis, Dr Vos created the global business development and transactions legal team that she led. She has contributed significantly to the company’s growth through M&A transactions, licensing deals, research collaborations and co-promotion agreements. Recently Dr Vos has been focused on the spinoff and listing of Elanco on the New York Stock Exchange. Elanco has since become a public company, which has subsequently generated a new set of compliance obligations requiring Dr Vos to stay on top of emerging regulations that impact the animal health business. Dr Vos is a passionate advocate for the benefits of working flexibly, through her own personal experience of realising law firm culture doesn’t often accommodate family life, Dr Vos frequently speaks out about the subject, supporting related initiatives within the business.
