The legal function at MH has been commended for their assistance on a range matters in supporting the business. A contributing factor to the team’s success in executing the company’s growth strategy has been the leadership of senior general manager for legal and corporate secretarial affairs Ausmal Kardin. As one nominator summarises, ‘as the GC of one of Malaysia’s largest oil and gas fabricators, he is a consummate negotiator, and lawyer both in transactional and dispute resolution matters. His legal work takes him across jurisdictions shepherding international transactions and disputes. He also oversees human resource issues over several group companies and reports directly to the board of directors’. In 2015, members of the legal team assisted MHB in securing a fabrication contract and marine repair conversion works worth RM324m. The team also organise an annual “legal sharing day”, a collaboration programme with government bodies, NGOs and other stakeholders for all MHB employees.
