Having worked in the field for 25 years, Matthew Weiniger QC is a specialist in international arbitrations, public international law, and trade law who joined Linklaters in 2015. He is highly regarded amongst peers for his advocacy skills and extensive experience ICSID cases involving European and African states. He recently represented Standard Chartered Bank and a subsidiary in three separate ICSID arbitrations arising out of the financing of a power station in Tanzania. Away from his primary role, Weiniger also co-heads the team who write for Arbitration Links, Linklaters’ arbitration blog. They recently hosted a “Mitigating Risk in Africa” seminar in Johannesburg with their collaborative alliance firm Webber Wentzel, presenting the latest insights into how the international arbitration landscape is evolving and discussing the impact of this on corporates and banks operating in the continent.
