Rich Puttré has more than 25 years of experience in complex, cross-border project-finance transactions, representing sponsors, developers, lenders, and investors in the development, financing, acquisition, and disposition of major capital-intensive assets in both the US and across Latin America. now based in Miami, Puttré operated out of Jones Day’s Madrid office for over a decade. Head of the firm’s global projects and infrastructure practice and leader of its Latin America practice group, he has particular experience representing sponsors and developers in renewable energy projects, including extensive experience helping to develop photo-voltaic plants. These transactions frequently involve banks and development finance institutions from various countries around the world. He has also worked on a number of wind, thermal solar, and conventional power projects as well as toll roads, airports, transmission lines, waste treatment facilities and water projects. His recent Mexico-related mandates include co-leading advice to JinkoSolar Holding on the development and financing of three photovoltaic solar power facilities with a combined installed-capacity of 188MW. The first phase of this project closed March 2018 and saw the team obtain a $135m senior financing for a 130MW project in Las Viborillas, Jalisco, while simultaneously handling all the developmental, regulatory and corporate aspects of the project. Other relevant matters saw him advise Engie subsidiary Solairedirect on its $222m acquisition of Sol de Insurgentes, the developer of a 23MWac photovoltaic plant in Baja California Sur.
