About

Dr Sebastian Biedenkopf became the general counsel for corporate giant Bosch in September 2013, having achieved numerous previous successes in a career that has taken him through prestigious law firms and important corporate roles in the context of the German market. Dr Biedenkopf took over the general counsel role at Bosch from noteworthy predecessor Dr Heiko Carrie, and in extending outstanding individual legal and business support to the company in this role he draws on several years of amassed experience and intricate legal know-how. After spending time in law firms from the inception of his career, Dr Biedenkopf became a foreign associate at international firm Arnold & Porter and a partner at Rotthege Wassermann & Partner, after which he joined the legal department of German mass media company Bertelsmann in 1999. Rising through the ranks of the in-house legal department there, two years later, he became general counsel of the Bertelsmann branch in New York and returned to Germany to take over the general counsel and chief compliance officer function at Maxingvest, the Hamburg based holding company for Tchibo and Beiersdorf in 2005. Just over three years later, Dr Biedenkopf moved to Conergy in the same position and having impressed not only via his legal and managerial skills, Dr Biedenkopf became Conergy’s CFO and interim CEO in 2010, evincing the trust that large organisations can place in his counsel and leadership ability. During his time at Conergy he played a major role in keeping the solar energy company out of bankruptcy and achieving a more stable financial footing. Currently concerned with oversight of all aspects of the legalities pertaining to Bosch’s large scale operations in many complex and technologically advanced sectors, Dr Biedenkopf is required to be at the cutting-edge of many aspects of consumer, technology and corporate law. He will be critical in the realisation of Bosch’s plans to develop its business, utilising its existing technological platforms and developing new ones, for example in the fields of robotics, mobility solutions and the “Internet of Things”.
