Rodrigo Hinzpeter Kirberg
Chief counsel | Quiñenco
Formerly an associate professor of civil law at Universidad Católica de Chile, Rodrigo Hinzpeter Kirberg’s professional career has seen him specialise in corporate law, acquisitions, mergers, and financial matters. Hinzpeter was a foreign lawyer for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York between 2000 and 2001, when he worked on a number of extremely high value transactions which added to his already extensive knowledge base. Further senior private practice positions, including an extended period with Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana followed before he left the legal world entirely to enter the political arena with the Chilean government, initially by becoming Minister of Home Affairs and later as secretary of defence from 2012 until 2014. He then joined Quiñenco in April 2014, seeing him instantly back among the most senior lawyers in the country given the company’s status as one of the largest in Chile.
