As the chief legal counsel of SKC Group, Juan Carlos Motta Ponce is responsible for all legal and compliance matters, leading and managing the legal department of SKC Group, an organisation composed by eight companies related to the sales, rent and technical service of industrial, mining, agricultural and construction machinery. His area of operation includes 1,100 employees in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Bolivia working in the activities in the management of industrial and intellectual properties of brands, renovations and oppositions, as well as insurance matters. Since joining SKC Group, he has reorganised the services with external law firms, establishing two specialised offices in the most critical areas, employment and tax, improving the quality of the advice and efficiency. He also designed and implemented processes in the generation of standard contracts and the reporting of claims that affect the company’s assets. He has also been responsible for strengthening the preparation of law off letters and the compilation of evidence that protects the company’s decisions, and significantly improving the outcome in courts. Internally, he has established a training programme in competition and antitrust, through talks in all branches of the country, raising awareness of the regulatory changes in the matter.
