Cristián Salgado started his career as a lawyer in the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, a government department, before becoming manager of regulatory and corporate affairs for Nextel Chile. In 2015, he joined Claro Chile as legal affairs manager, and in 2017 he was promoted to director of legal and regulatory affairs. While at Nextel, Salgado was part of the team that obtained the concessions for Nextel Chile, deploying the national telecommunications network, leading its deployment and authorisations. Since leading the Claro Chile team, Salgado identifies that he ‘has carried out a thorough restructuring of the legal and regulatory management, implementing new processes of regulatory control and comprehensive compliance with a participatory perspective in the company’s business chain’. In the last two years he has led the obtaining of permits and approval of works of the contest of 700 MHz, as well as the free competition processes associated with the law suit of MVNOs. He has also worked on a freezing process of the 3.5 MHz band as well as several process of free competition and obtaining, deployment of telecommunications concessions and general TICs.
