Ivanhoé Cambridge, the real estate subsidiary of La Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec, has a six-person legal team located in Luxembourg and Paris, where legal head for Europe Julien Nataf is based alongside legal advisor Paul Renaudin. In charge of the Europe legal department since 2018, Nataf mentions that the team has been fully involved in major projects in Paris, London and Berlin, including, amongst others the Icawood joint venture in France signed with Icamap to create a real estate investment fund in low-carbon projects. ‘The European legal team of Ivanhoé Cambridge is fully committed in the achievement of transactions’, says Nataf. ‘We work closely with the European investment team and our main focus is to ensure that the European platform concludes a maximum of transactions, within a short time frame and with a full legal certainty’. Going forward, ‘any aspects of a transaction shall be now validated by the in-house lawyers’, says Nataf. ‘Compliance and anti-bribery aspects will also continue to have a predominant part in the scope of work’.
