With a history in the Italian healthcare sector dating back to 1927, Bracco Imaging has since become a prominent leader in diagnostic imaging, and is the lead company in the Bracco Group’s core business of diagnostic imaging. Led by head of global legal affairs Cosimo Lomartire, the legal team is made up of six lawyers and two support staff and is structured into five areas of competence, structured to support different global departments of the Italian company and its subsidiaries all over the world. Each area is managed by an in-house legal counsel, these areas include medical and regulatory affairs, commercial and marketing, research and development, technical operations, health, safety and environment and data protection, staff functions and compliance, trademarks and domain names and debt collection and medical devices business. The team strongly believes in its role as an integral part of the whole business team and operates with a result-focus orientation, giving its day-by-day contribution to empower a cross-functional integration among the global departments. ‘Even if the legal team is numerically small despite supporting an international group, the legal counsel are very much committed in giving advice and assistance with professionalism and pro-activeness, with a systemic approach for the benefit of the whole Group’, says legal counsel Antonella Fachin. In light of the development of the legal framework and the international operations of the company, the legal team has been reorganised and empowered by having a compliance manager, a data protection officer and a new legal area to support the growing medical devices business.
