CDP Equity, previously known as Fondo Strategico Italiano (Italian Strategic Fund), was established in late July 2011 as a sovereign wealth fund. With a capital of €3.7bn, its portfolio currently consists of investments in 11 companies. Its legal department is formed by a number of highly skilled in-house lawyers who advise the business on various legal and compliance matters. In April 2018, with input from the legal function, CDP Equity invested €48m more in Ansaldo Energia, now holding 59.9% of the company. Ansaldo Energia recently announced an agreement with Edison, which will make the thermoelectric power plant of Porto Marghera the most efficient in Europe.
