Moncler has established itself as a popular luxury Italian apparel and lifestyle company, recognised globally for its down jackets and sportswear. Founded in 1952, Moncler is the abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. The brand was eventually bought by Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini in 2003, who listed the company on the Milan Stock Exchange in December 2013. The current legal team wholly participates and collaborates in the expansion of the company, and act as a central decision-making influencer at both national and international levels. Amongst these projects, the legal team has been at the centre of launching the high-profile launch of Genius collections and the launch of the Houses of Genius Moncler pop-up retail stores worldwide. The team has also worked on the entrance of Moncler into the most famous port of call for shopping in Milan, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Internationally, the legal team has assisted on the company’s ecommerce internalisation in Korea. The IP and brand protection team, in particular, has been actively involved in the Genius and House of Genius launches, due to the need for protecting new assets and implementing Moncler’s trademarks, designs and domains portfolio as well as within the negotiations and finalisation of various agreements. In total, the team is made up of eight lawyers, five brand protection experts, one intern, one support staff and one external legal counsel, and is summed up by general counsel Silvia Bertulli as encompassing ‘energy, competence, flexibility and [a] deep sense of belonging’. The team prides itself on working hard with the aim of giving optimum energy to the brand and supporting all corporate functions and different areas of the business. ‘We are very close to the business and we always act quickly and proactively as strong business partners to all the company’s structure’, states Bertulli.
