Part of the QVC Group, QVC Italy is a shopping and entertainment channel, present in the Italian digital terrestrial television. The legal team plans and develops the legal, regulatory and compliance strategy of QVC Italy and is a key partner of the business functions in order to achieve their commercial goals, while ensuring compliance with QVC’s legal and regulatory obligations. Acting as the local liaison for the global compliance and ethics team, the legal department provides advice on policies and assistance in enforcement, delivering a legal education compliance programme. The director of legal affairs, Roberta Roccanova, reports to the international general counsel, with a dotted line to the Italian CEO. The last two years were crucial for the team as until 2017 the Italian legal matters were under the direct leadership of the international general counsel. ‘The creation of a legal leadership role in the market involved a strict partnership with the business in the market and increased the awareness of legal and compliance matters’, says Roccanova. In 2019, the team further expanded with the creation of the legal counsel role and a privacy analyst role reporting to the global privacy team. The advertising compliance team is now more focused on high-value legal advice in the areas of advertising, communication and marketing matters.
