Italian denim label Replay is a prominent fashion label owned by one of the leading international companies in the denim sector, Fashion Box. It is involved in creating, promoting and distributing men’s, women’s and children’s smart casual wear, accessories and footwear with operations in all European markets, the Middle East, Asia, the US and Africa. The legal team has experienced significant changes in recent times, going from a lean and streamlined department of three to now boasting a headcount of five, having welcomed two new members to the team. With the introduction of GDPR and the growing importance of being able to substantiate ethical codes and corporate guidelines regarding social responsibility and supply chain sustainability, the team has recently identified the necessity to dedicate resources to review and establish company policies. Summing up the team’s ethos, general counsel Roberto Luca Moresco explains that the team sees itself as a team within a team: ‘Many people, given the choice, would happily bypass a company’s legal office as lawyers are often perceived as box tickers who by nature hinder business. This is not the case at Replay because we do not work in a vacuum, but rather have established ourselves as part of a bigger team’. The legal team has recently worked on renewing their long-term sponsorship deal with Replay’s key testimonial footballer Neymar, who featured in a recent advertising campaign with model Emily Ratajkowski. The team is currently negotiating a number of exciting key endorsements and co-branding agreements with a high-profile celebrity and a world-renowned sporting club, which is due to be announced during the course of 2019.
