The global mining company Teck is present in Chile through the Quebrada Blanca copper mines in the Tarapacá Region and Carmen de Andacollo in the Coquimbo Region. Both operations have the combined capacity to produce 110,000-125,000 tonnes of copper per year and employ a workforce of 1,500 employees. Under the close supervision by its legal department the company has also recently launched two new projects: one to expand the existing operation at Quebrada Blanca and another “greenfield” project in the Relincho field. Managed by legal director Francisco Javier Allendes, the team has made important contributions to both projects, providing business-centred advice while working in cooperation with professionals from other departments. In addition to its existing team, whose contribution to these projects has been immense, the department has made two new recent additions. Eduardo Muñoz Riadi joined the company in April 2017 as a lawyer after having spent over six years as an in-house counsel in Pacific Hydro, Grupo Antofagasta Minerals and AES Gener. To develop a more effective compliance program and system of control in both Chile and Peru, the company also recently hired highly experienced lawyer Vjera Razmilić Triantafilo as its compliance manager in October 2017. A former senior legal counsel for the Southern Cone region of GE Energy Connections, Razmilić boasts an impressive legal career of over 15 years.
