The superb and highly talented in-house legal team at SIG Combibloc Group is led by group general counsel and chief compliance officer Philippe A. Huber and consists of nine lawyers and seven specialist support staff including specialist clerks, paralegals and legal assistants. There is a core team at the global headquarters in Neuhausen, Switzerland consisting of the group general counsel and chief compliance officer, senior corporate counsel, global compliance officer and there is a team of legal counsel in each global region that the company works in, based in Germany, Romania, Brazil, Thailand and China. The legal counsel also act as compliance officers for their respective region. Over the last two years the team has expanded, adding legal counsel in the Asia Pacific region based in Bangkok and Shanghai and creating the new global compliance officer position at company headquarters. It has also redesigned the legal counsel role based in Romania to support and strengthen subsidiary governance. The team also worked on the listing of SIG Combibloc Group on SIX Swiss Exchange in September 2018, implementing the required corporate governance framework and leading the organisation in transitioning from a privately held company to a public company. Huber highlights that he ‘recently gathered all [of his] team members at the headquarters in Neuhausen for a legal and compliance team conference to, amongst other things, develop a vision and mission statement. I think the result of engaged discussions sums up very well our team culture and ethos: Vision – at SIG, legal and compliance is part of the solution’.
